Privacy Policy

AI Ranker ("AI Ranker", "we", "us", or "our") operates the website at airanker.app and related tools (collectively, the "Service") that help businesses measure and improve how they appear in AI-powered search experiences (including ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews) and in local search surfaces such as Google Business Profile ("GBP"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using the Service you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who we are and scope

This policy applies to information collected through the Service, including our marketing site, authenticated dashboard, APIs, and any integrations you enable (including Google Business Profile). It does not apply to third-party sites or services we do not operate.

2. Information we collect

a. Information you provide

  • Account details (name, email, password or federated sign-in identifiers).
  • Business information you enter or import (business name, address, phone, website, categories, service areas, hours, descriptions, photos, review responses).
  • Billing details processed by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Support communications and feedback.

b. Information from connected accounts (including Google)

If you connect a Google account, we request only the scopes needed to provide the features you use. With your permission we access:

  • Your basic Google profile (name, email, profile picture) to identify your account.
  • Google Business Profile locations you manage, including business metadata, categories, hours, service areas, attributes, media, posts, Q&A, reviews and review responses, and performance insights.

We do not request or access Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts, Photos, YouTube private data, or any other Google user data outside the scopes needed for GBP-related functionality.

c. Information collected automatically

  • Log data (IP address, browser, device, timestamps, pages viewed, referring URLs).
  • Cookies and similar technologies used for authentication, preferences, security, and analytics.
  • Product usage events used to improve reliability and features.

d. Information from public and third-party sources

To measure how your business appears in AI and local search, the Service queries publicly available search engines, AI assistants, and citation sources. We may store the resulting prompts, responses, citations, ranks, and screenshots as part of your reports.

3. How we use information

  • Provide, operate, secure, and improve the Service.
  • Authenticate users and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • Sync, analyze, and update Google Business Profile data at your direction.
  • Generate reports on AI and local search visibility, citations, and recommendations.
  • Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not use Google user data to serve advertisements, and we do not sell Google user data.

4. Google API Services User Data Policy — Limited Use

AI Ranker's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We only use Google user data to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the Service's user interface.
  • We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except (i) as necessary to provide or improve those features, (ii) to comply with applicable law, or (iii) as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with notice to users.
  • We do not use Google user data for serving ads, including retargeting, personalized, or interest-based advertising.
  • We do not allow humans to read Google user data unless (a) we obtain your affirmative agreement for specific messages, (b) it is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, (c) it is required to comply with applicable law, or (d) the data is aggregated and used for internal operations in a manner that has been de-identified.

5. How we share information

  • Service providers that host infrastructure, provide analytics, send email, or process payments under contractual data-protection obligations.
  • Google, when you use GBP features, to read and write the data you authorize.
  • Legal and safety disclosures when required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
  • Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to the confidentiality of this policy.

We do not sell your personal information or Google user data.

6. Data retention

We retain account and business data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete a business, disconnect Google, or delete your account at any time. When you disconnect Google, we stop syncing new Google user data and delete cached Google user data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for security investigations.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for stored credentials and tokens, least-privilege access controls, audit logging, and secure secret management. No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Access, correct, export, or delete your information from your account settings or by contacting us.
  • Revoke Google access at any time from your Google Account's third-party connections page or by disconnecting inside AI Ranker.
  • Opt out of non-essential emails via the unsubscribe link.
  • Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or other laws (including the right to object, restrict processing, portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority).

9. International data transfers

We may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted in-product or via email. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
